Session X (30 May - 05 June)

I was able to sign-on my three testers for pilot testing and have just about finished putting together the prototype. The group I spoke with may produce some additional testers. Is this one of things that it's the more the better? I imagine so, but generating volumes of data for ETEC 644 here in the home stretch seems ill advised. I also incorporated some of the changes offered by Dr Baek and our classmates at PDC, which adds grist to the mill here in the final days of the course.

My next task is to throw together some worksheets for the testers to fill with their opinions and reactions to the product. My plan is to have them back from the testers so I can assemble the paper and PowerPoint over the weekend.

Dear Brian,

I am glad to hear that you were able to recruit participants.
The number of participants varies by projects. Typically usability specialists consider that about 8 representatives of a project’s target audiences would give enough diverse perspectives. In a series of usability test, if an instructional designer sees repetitive responses/themes from the participants (after about 8 testees), that would be the time he want to stop the series and revise his product based on the feedback received from the test.

Good work!

Glad to see that things worked out with your testers. I am sitting here with my feedback trying to organize it into something that makes sense. I does feel good to be in the final stretch. I agree with Lisa that it will be so nice to have my weekends back. I think your project is going to be really helpful to your unit. Good luck.

Brian,
Sounds like you have been "overachieving" as usual. I hope that you remember that this is prototype stage and does not have to be a "finished" product. I am looking forward to seeing your end result as it seems that it is somewhat similar to the Navy project we are working on and will continue next quarter. I am sure I will learn something from it. Hope you take next weekend off as it is well deserved.
